MIchele Mathews

I grew up in Yakima and went to school at Naches from kindergarten until second grade and then my family moved to Alaska until 5th grade. Then, we moved back to Naches and I was shocked to be treated like the new girl in school.  In high school I wasn't the popular girl who was the cheerleader. I was shy and got teased and that's why I can relate to Taylor Swift's songs so well.  During that time, I found radio and it became my outlet so I went to Skills Center during high school attending the Radio Broadcasting Class. I had my own radio show at 16. At 17, I was hired at KXDD to work overnights on the weekends. I moved on to work at a radio station in Prosser and then to a major radio station in Yakima.  I found radio difficult with two small children and left for about 7 years.  During that time I had 2 more kids! I decided to get back into radio after my 27 year old cousin passed away from cancer. Since my first job was at KXDD I feel like I have come home.

We built a house in Gleed on a few acres and live next to my in-laws who help out a ton! I have a loving husband who spoils me rotten! I have 4 amazing kids each with their own personality and interests. Mathew, 12 is the highly gifted, intelligent, computer nerd.  I have no idea where he got it from?  Benjamin, 11 is the soccer, basketball, baseball player, who recently discovered he had a gift for playing the guitar.  Jackson, 5 is our comedian who played soccer and basketball for the first time this year.   Miss Shaylee, 3 is the princess diva who is truly a girlie girlie that loves Disney Princesses and My Little Ponies.   The boys all have 4-wheelers and Shaylee is trying to talk her dad into a horse for her birthday! We have 3 cats, 2 exotic Persians - Zoomer and Mookie, and a mix Siamese Tia and a dog, Maggie, that we adopted from the Humane Society.
