Is the Tooth Fairy Paying Less?

Kids with loose teeth aren’t in for as big of a pay-day according to the Tooth Fairy Index. The index charts the average amount a child typically receives per tooth. In 2016 the Tooth Fairy was paying out at $4.66 per tooth, an all time high, but in 2017 the going rate for a lost tooth fell 11% to $4.13.

The Tooth Fairy pays the most out west with an average of $4.85 per tooth AND $6.76 for the very first tooth lost.

Even though the average price of a tooth dropped in 2017 kids still made A LOT of money. The Tooth Fairy paid out nearly $271 million for lost teeth in 2017.
