The success of The Oak Ridge Boys‘ 40-year-old hit “Elvira” transcends time and musical genres. It’s hard to find anyone who hasn’t heard the familiar “giddy up, ah-oom papa, oom papa, mau-mau.” But in 1981, CMT hadn’t launched yet, so country music videos weren’t a big thing. They are now.
With the help of some of their musical friends like Chase Matthew, Trace Adkins, Lorrie Morgan, Tenille Arts, Big and Rich, Ray Stevens and many more, “Elvira” has come to life and also serves as a tribute to Joe Bonsall, who died in early July.
